Knitting & Crocheting, etc.

On the first Monday of the month, a knitting/ crochet/ needlework group meets at the library from 6 to 8 pm. If you're working on a needlework project of any kind, drop in and add a few rows or stitches to your project while chatting with friends old and new!

Book Group & Story Hour

On Monday , April 21st, at 7 pm, the book group will meet to discuss Barbara Delinsky's novel FAMILY TREE--a novel about families, secrets, and releationships. The May book group title is A YEAR IN THE WORLD by Frances Mayes, famous for her books Under the Tuscan Sun and Bella Tuscany. Armchair travel at its best!!
The energetic preschool story hour participants have been decorating the library with their artwork--flowers, snakes, and pussy willows. They have also been learning new songs--if you have preschool-aged children, come join us on Wednesday mornings at 10 am.

What's New and Exciting

Beginning Monday, February 4th, a knitting/ crochet/ needlecraft group will meet from 6 to 8 pm on every first Monday of the month. Bring your project and come get to know your fellow knitters/ crafters!

Story hour is going strong--this week the preschoolers practiced "sewing" skills with yarn and bears with holes punched out. We've been reading from several of our new children's books obtained with the Libri Grant. How exciting!! Story hour is at 10 am on Wednesday mornings.

LIBRI Grant

Come celebrate with us on Saturday, January 26th!! An open house from 9 am to noon, with a special story hour at 10 am, will highlight our new children's books. The acquisition of these books was made possible by a 2-to-1 matching grant from the Libri Foundation. The library's share was raised by such events as a Dime-a-Dip Dinner and the generosity of the community. The books range in reading level from pre-school to junior high, and are a mix of fiction and nonfiction. Hope to see you there!

Story Hour

Preschool story hour is going strong!! This week the children heard the story Fiona Loves the Night by Patricia MacLachan. They also learned about bats who sleep in the day (upside down) and fly at night, looking for insects to eat.
I love hearing the children sing--and they love experimenting with songs, like singing the "A B C" song in their "funny" singing voices and then their regular singing voices. There's still room to join us on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.!

Book Group

On November 19th at 7 pm the book group will meet to discuss Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson. We were excited to be able to borrow enough copies from other libraries as this title is still a popular choice for book groups around the state. Three Cups of Tea promises to be an engaging and inspiring read.
